Prepared for MicheleSeptember 2026 · Assessment & Research

One board, one source of truth: certification volume, pass rates, LKA participation and item performance — with every chart already publication-ready for the next infographic.

Showing All specialty groups · 2022–2025

1Certificates maintained per quarter — LKA vs 10-year MOC exam

16 quarters, Q1 2022 – Q4 2025 · a certificate is counted in the quarter its maintenance assessment was completed

Longitudinal Knowledge Assessment (LKA)10-year MOC exam

2What this board answers

Three questions the Assessment & Research team asks every cycle

3The certification journey — candidate flow from residency to maintained certificate

Band width is proportional to physicians in the selection · residency completion → initial certification exam → diplomate → maintenance pathway

4Infographic export — one-glance tile

Recalculated from the current filter; ready for the annual report, a press release or a journal figure

Mock controls — export is wired in the delivered build

5First-taker pass rate by certificate

Initial certification exams · sorted by pass rate · amber = below the 88% board-level watch line

6Question performance — item difficulty × discrimination

Each dot is one scored item · x = proportion answering correctly (p-value) · y = point-biserial discrimination · items below 0.15 are flagged for committee review

7Candidate cohorts — first-takers by training pathway

Share of first-time takers and their pass rate · US MD graduates · DO graduates · international medical graduates (IMG)

8Ask the data

MJ
† Anchor: ABIM has reported that in 2022–2023 physicians used the Longitudinal Knowledge Assessment to maintain more than 51,300 certificates versus more than 13,600 via the traditional MOC exam — about 80% choosing the LKA (ABIM, reported by Fierce Healthcare). ABIM was founded in 1936 in Philadelphia and certifies physicians in internal medicine and its 20 subspecialties. The 2022 and 2023 totals on this board reconcile to that published figure; every other number is illustrative, internally consistent, and not ABIM's actual results.

Private AI on your own server

The "ask the data" panel above is built to run on a GPU server inside your own network: an open-weight model over your own documents, with every answer citing the file it came from. No per-seat licence, works offline, and nothing leaves the building.

How it sits in your environment

YOUR NETWORK · NOTHING LEAVES THE BUILDING Your files policies · SOPs · contracts reports · ERP exports indexed locally GPU One server, in your building open-weight model · your data only in seconds Cited answers every reply links to the source file and page no cloud AI · no third-party processor
One appliance-class server on your rack or in a secured closet. Your files are indexed where they already live; the model runs locally; answers come back with the source page attached.

What that means in practice

  1. 1
Your data only, on your hardwareAn open model over your own documents and exports. No third-party AI processor, no data-transfer agreement to review.
  2. 2
Every answer cites its sourceReplies point to the file and page they were drawn from, so people check the answer instead of trusting it blind.
  3. 3
No per-seat licenceThe whole team can ask questions. Cost is the server and our build, not a monthly number that grows with headcount.
  4. 4
Works offlineIf the internet connection goes down, the answers still come. Nothing depends on a vendor's uptime or pricing changes.
